Shut your mouth once in a while

One of our favorite things to do is talk about other people. We look at everyone else in disdain in a futile effort to make ourselves feel better about our own failures.

There’s an old saying that if you don’t have the tallest building in the city then you can just tear down all the other buildings. You’re not the tallest building if you tear all the others down, you’re just what’s left amidst the destruction.

We’re far too quick to speak our mind and justify that foolishness because “It’s the truth!”.

Paul said to speak the truth in love. We can’t cut out the “in love” part when it’s not convenient.

Take the time to consider your words. You will find it is often better to just shut your mouth.
